As Built Surveys

Some people have the perception that when a construction project commences, it always goes smoothly – and entirely according to plan. For those with more experience in these matters, the reality is different. Generally speaking, construction projects do not pan out precisely as intended, and to ensure that the projects progresses effectively, it’s important to take note of what’s going on as the processes roll out. At Susquehanna Surveying and Mapping, we’ve been providing as-built property survey services for our customers across the Harrisburg, PA area for many years now – and we have total confidence that you’ll enjoy what we’re able to bring to the table for you. Below, you can gain some additional insights into the as-built surveys that we provide, and why they’re a must for any construction project of any import. If you have any further questions about this or any other land surveying services that we deliver, you can always reach out to our customer service representatives.

What are As-Built Surveys?

At its core, an as-built survey helps you to understand the way that a building construction project is proceeding – and whether it’s going according to plan. Completed at various points throughout the procession of a construction project, an as-built survey shows the dimension and geometry of the various project components as they develop. Floor plans commonly include the walls, doors, and windows, but also the plumbing infrastructures that are present. Contrasting with other land and real estate survey productions, an as-built survey shows all of the improvements and alterations a building experiences over time.

Up-To-Date Documentation

There’s a temptation for people who are running construction projects to simply believe that everything is going exactly according to plan – but we know that very, very rarely is that really the case. Most of the time, construction projects experience small to moderate changes that can result in an eventual outcome that is quite different from the proposed design. This, in and of itself, is not necessarily a problem. But it is a problem if the construction process doesn’t bear these changes in mind as the project proceeds. With our as-built surveys, you ensure that you have access to up-to-date documentation that delivers total accuracy and precision.

Required Design Changes

If the construction isn’t exactly as intended, there’s a good chance that some changes will need to be made to the design and implementation of the rest of the project template. If the design isn’t progressing as expected, pre-emptive design changes can make sure that you get the project back on track – even avoiding potentially dangerous issues.

Cost-Effective Construction

The cost of construction is high. In fact, in many quarters, the price of building design and implementation is only increasing, which is why you must take steps to protect yourself from these rising expenditures. With an as-built survey, the likelihood is that you’ll avoid having to redo sections of the construction at great expense – saving you a great deal of cash in the future.
